Fondazione UNA

UNA. United for Environmental Protection and Land Conservation

Born from the convergence of different perspectives, Fondazione UNA is a non-profit organization committed to protecting the environment and promoting sustainability throughout Italy. Environmentalists, agricultural and hunting communities work together, alongside scientists and academics, with the shared goal of preserving nature and improving quality of life for everyone.

Fondazione UNA’s Focus Areas

The foundation

Landscape and Environment

Nature can’t bounce back on its own from climate disasters or human neglect. That’s why we run environmental restoration and landscape recovery projects all across Italy.

The foundation

Institutions and Associations

Every day, we work with institutions, governments, local authorities, businesses, and civil society organizations to develop innovative environmental projects and promote sustainable practices.

The foundation

Pastoral and Forestry Heritage

We seek solutions for managing dangerous wildlife, such as large predators, to protect small rural farms, traditional pastoral economies, and forest wildlife.

The foundation

Agricultural Heritage

The relationship between agriculture and wildlife management isn’t always smooth. We work to ease conflicts by creating collaborative spaces built on mutual respect and shared interests.

What is a “foundation” and why we choose this kind of organization?

A foundation is a non-profit organization created for a specific social purpose and initially endowed with assets provided by its founders.

In our case, the founding members — including C.N.C.N., several associations, and the University of Urbino “Carlo Bo” — set out to protect biodiversity and promote a genuine culture of environmental responsibility.

We believe in a vision guided by science and nature, free from prejudice and ideological bias.

Our work is tangible and impact-driven. It includes:

  • Raising awareness of environmental issues within local communities
  • Restoring damaged habitats
  • Building ongoing partnerships with associations, public bodies, and private organizations

In the most serious cases, we take a stand against the mismanagement of protected areas and fight poaching — a criminal act driven by profit or targeting protected species.

Nature isn’t a place to visit.
It’s home.
