Our Story
Many starting points, one shared path.
The origins of Fondazione UNA ETS
Fondazione UNA was established in 2015, when for the first time the CNCN (The Italian Hunting and Nature Committee), Italy’s leading hunting associations, and the University of Urbino “Carlo Bo” came together to launch concrete initiatives in support of the environment.
The vision was to create an independent entity — separate from its founding members — dedicated to advancing shared environmental goals and fostering a responsible ecological, wildlife, and rural culture across Italy.
An evolving journey
Since October 2020, Fondazione UNA has been an official member of the IUCN, the International Union for Conservation of Nature — a global organization committed to finding practical solutions to the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. IUCN unites over 1,400 members, including states, government agencies, NGOs of all sizes, and scientific and academic institutions.
For us, this membership opens up new opportunities to build strategic partnerships and deliver concrete results.
Principles that move us
With Fondazione UNA, a new network of alliances is taking shape in Italy, connecting associations, institutions, and individuals who may sometimes have differing perspectives but share common goals. Three core values serve as the glue between these diverse visions:
- A commitment to a scientific and naturalistic approach, grounded in rigorous and objective research
- Respect for rural culture, a desire to rediscover it, and a dedication to spreading knowledge about it
- The belief that nature is not an untouchable ideal, but something that must be carefully managed and protected by humans
These three principles unite us and pave the way for innovative collaborations.
